1. Project background

AI Crypto Plan is an independent personal project created to help long-term, dollar-cost-averaging investors make sense of the crypto markets using clear visuals, simple tools and carefully framed AI explanations. It is built and maintained by a computing graduate based in the UK with a background in data analysis, cloud hosting and applied AI.

The aim is not to predict the future or provide trading signals, but to offer a calm, structured workspace where you can check live prices, sketch DCA plans, track a small portfolio and ask natural-language questions about risk, time horizon and market context.

2. What AI Crypto Plan is and what it is not

AI Crypto Plan is an informational and educational site. It is not a broker, exchange, wallet provider, signal service or investment adviser. The tools are designed to help you think clearly about your own decisions, not to tell you what to buy or sell.

You remain fully responsible for your financial choices. Markets can move quickly, data can be delayed or incomplete, and AI explanations can be approximate. Always do your own research and, where appropriate, consult a qualified professional before committing money.

3. Overview of the tools

The project currently includes several focused tools that share a common design language:

  • Live Prices: a compact market overview for the top coins by market cap, with basic market stats and watchlist support.
  • Portfolio Tracker: a simple spot-value tracker that lets you record holdings and estimate their current value using live GBP prices. Data is stored locally in your browser.
  • DCA Planner: a neutral projection tool for planning recurring monthly investments into a chosen asset, using today's price as a constant baseline.
  • Recently Listed Coins: a view based on CoinMarketCap's latest listings that highlights coins added in the last few weeks, filtered for basic liquidity.
  • Trending / watched coins: discovery views that surface coins with notable recent activity or interest.
  • AI Assistant: a conversational assistant that combines a recent market snapshot from the tools with large language models to explain scenarios, risk trade-offs and DCA plans in plain English.

4. Data sources & technical methodology

The tools rely on a small number of well-known third-party providers and a set of internal APIs. The main elements are:

4.1 Market data

  • Live price data for core markets is obtained from public APIs such as CoinGecko. These APIs provide aggregated prices, market caps and recent percentage changes in specified quote currencies (for example GBP, USD or EUR).
  • Recently listed coins are retrieved using CoinMarketCap's latest listings endpoint, which returns assets ordered by date_added. The “new coins” view applies additional filters such as a minimum 24-hour volume to remove very illiquid or inactive entries.
  • Trending / discovery views use API endpoints that surface coins with notable recent interest or price action, then apply simple filters and ordering on top.

4.2 Currencies & conversions

Most views allow you to choose a quote currency (for example GBP, USD or EUR). Where possible, values are requested directly in that currency from the upstream API rather than manually converted inside the app. This keeps the logic transparent and reduces the risk of inconsistent rates across pages.

4.3 Local storage & browser state

Portfolio entries, alerts (where implemented) and interface preferences such as your chosen quote currency are stored locally in your browser, typically using local storage. This means:

  • No login or account is required.
  • Your holdings and alerts are intended to remain on your own device.
  • Clearing your browser data will remove this information, and the tools will reset to their default state.

4.4 AI assistant methodology

The AI Assistant uses a large language model hosted by a specialist AI provider. When you ask a question, the app:

  1. Fetches a recent market snapshot from the internal live prices API.
  2. Builds a structured prompt that includes your question, the snapshot and guardrails about risk, DCA and neutrality.
  3. Sends this prompt to the AI model and displays the returned text as the assistant's reply.

5. Limitations, assumptions & risk

Every effort is made to keep the tools accurate and transparent, but several important limitations remain:

  • Market data may be delayed, rounded, unavailable or revised by the underlying providers.
  • Projections in the DCA Planner assume constant prices and regular contributions. Real-world outcomes will differ materially.
  • New-coins and trending views may surface speculative or short-lived projects. Their appearance is not an endorsement or guarantee.
  • AI explanations are generated text and may be simplified, incomplete or occasionally wrong.

6. Roadmap & future improvements

AI Crypto Plan is an evolving project. Planned upgrades include richer portfolio analytics, scenario testing in the DCA Planner, deeper integration with the AI assistant and more educational material on long-term investing and risk management.

7. Contact & feedback

If you have comments, spot an error or would like to suggest a feature, please use the contact details provided on the main site. Constructive feedback is very welcome — this project is intended to grow alongside its users.
